Who are we?

Unconventional supports is a Queer and QPOC lead, independently owned and linguistically diverse safer space, offering bespoke NDIS disability support services for Queer folks based in Naarm (Melbourne).

All of our supports are trauma informed and participant centered because what we do isn't about us. It's about our community and helping rad as Queer folks live their daily lives a little easier. 

Meet our team

We are a close-knit group, United by our diverse backgrounds and a shared passion for supporting the queer community. Our dedication goes beyond providing care; we strive for genuine connections. Whether it’s a grocery run or a bush walk on a sunny day. We bring enthusiasm and warmth, ensuring that our participants feel valued and supported whenever they are with our team.

Bowie (They/Them)

Disability Support Worker

​Bowie is an experienced  disability support worker with a focus on supporting folks living with Autism and ADHD. 

They are a multi skilled human who is passionate about supporting their community. At heart they are a maker/fixer of things and adventurer.

 

Other skills acquired and fueled purely by queer audacity include kettlebell strength coach, TGD advocate and business owner. 

 

Their skills and experience make them great for: 

 

  • Active social supports - shopping; walks/bushwalks (with or without dogs); Training/EP sessions; social outings

  • Transport that may include a walker/chair; pets; project items; shopping/groceries

  • Active daily living supports - Building/maintaining daily routines; meal prep; appointments; personal projects

Mariana (She/They)

Disability Support Worker

Born in Brasil, calling Australia home for the last 11 years.

 

Mariana speaks Portuguese, Italian & English. She has experience supporting folks with adhd and autism. And with a background in Tourism & Library services, their organisational skills are on point.

 

Mariana is also a Personal Trainer, working with the queer community and specialising in Boxing based training.

 

She loves roller skating on their free time. Mariana is a pet lover who loves taking their dogs on family adventures.

Their skills and experience make them great for: 

 

  • Active social supports - sightseeing; social outings; shopping; walks/bushwalks (with or without dogs); Training/EP sessions;

  • Transport that may include a walker; a pet; shopping/groceries

  • Active daily living supports - personal administration; Building/maintaining daily routines; meal prep; appointments;

Transport

Our transport comes in bigger and smaller options. Our vehicles are comprehensively insured, reliable and regularly serviced.

Bigger transport

  • Fits up to 4 passenger humans 

  • Fits up to 2 small/medium dogs or 1 large dog

  • Fits 1 Self-propelled or 1 heavy duty wheelchair

  • Fits 2 walkers

  • Fits all the groceries

  • Fits most of the small/medium projects or gardening supplies

  • Requires a step up to enter

 

Smaller transport

  • Fits up to 3 passenger humans

  • Fits up to 2 small dogs or 1 medium/large dogs

  • Fits 1 walker

  • Fits all the groceries

  • Fits small project or gardening supplies

  • Requires a sit down into to enter
